Following Samsung Display, LG Display is also facing the risk of technology leaks to foreign countries.
On October 13, the Industrial Technology Security Investigation Team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it recently raided LG Display's Paju plant in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, which focuses on OLED panel production, after discovering suspected display technology leaks.
Police have confirmed that two LG Display executives and employees are suspected of leaking display-related technology to a foreign company and are currently investigating them for violating the Industrial Technology Protection Act.
Reportedly, police found hundreds of photos of internal company data on the phones of the executives and employees suspected of leaking display-related technology.
LG Display stated, "During internal monitoring, we discovered suspicious circumstances of a leak and reported it to the police."
On October 1, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency also raided Samsung Display's Asan campus in South Chungcheong Province. Police reportedly found evidence that some Samsung Display employees had transferred their latest organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display technology to a foreign company. The police investigation is still in its early stages, and authorities plan to further investigate the employees suspected of technology leaks and analyze seized materials.
The foreign companies suspected of leaking the technology of the two companies are reportedly different.
